Statement from Masia One:

Sending a great BIG thank you to VIMA 2013 team for organizing these awards that bring together artists from all over South East Asia, support independent music and giving me & crew the opportunity to perform live at the awards ceremony.  It has been truly amazing experience to be a part of this event and I am so grateful for all the new musical friends I have made and the doors of opportunity that open from this recognition. Sending love to all the fans that took the time to vote and gave me encouragement on the road to the awards. Shouts out to the incredible Butch Diva that made my blue Camo suit especially for the performance of Warriors Tongue and the awards...definitely the bashiest outfit of the night! Finally, LOVE to my bro Ming Towers...this one, two and three is for you.  I'll do my best to make you proud and let your legacy live on in the music and good vibes.

On tour with no voice

So here I am on a cross Ontario School tour and lost my voice!  Bummer :(

One of my favorite things about the 411 Initiative for Change tours sponsored by Kids Help Phone is being able to perform songs at the end of the presentation.  Students don't usually get to have a mini concert before recess on a school day and these girls that may never spend time out of school together let alone attend a show or party together... yet there they all are (forced by societal educational rules) to sit in a gym, nerd next to emo rock girl next to popular girl next to jockette ...everyone rocking out together.  For that moment maybe, just maybe we all forget the roles we play at school and just enjoy some live music.

This week has been a struggle.  After shooting a video all Sunday for the single MAKEUP off the new album Bootleg Culture I woke up Monday morning sounding like the God Father whispering mafioso secrets or typing on my iPhone to communicate. Ivy Prosper the host of the show has been a darling and made it easier for me to get through my portion of the interview.  She wrote some inspirational words about the situation HERE.

With this in mind, I wanted to make the sampler of my music downloadable to make up for the lack of music in this week's show performances.  NYC premier DJ, DJ AUTOGRAPH has mixed together some choice cuts off the BOOTLEG CULTURE album and all I ask is you bump it in your systems LOUD and if you like it tell a friend. The sampler features Pharrell, The Game, Talib Kweli and many more! As well music videos for the songs that I perform on the school tour are posted below.

Sending love and thanks to all the wonderful ladies we have met on the tour this week who cheered loud even as I struggled to squeeze out a 16 bar verse from my pulsating swollen trachea (#DramaQueen).  No more lonzenges - these things taste like Laundry Detergent BLECH!

Bootleg Culture Album Release NYC!

The Bootleg Culture Album Release Oct 18. 2012 at Happy Ending Lounge, NYC was an amazing success!  Thank you so much to everyone that came through to support the project and bringing great vibes all night.  This was a truly international affair with people representing from Canada, Singapore, Japan, Finland, Sweden and of course NYC. A BIG BIG shout out to my tremendous management team SWEJAM (DJ AUTOGRAPH & HANNA HERBERTSON), promotion MECCAGODZILLA of MANAFEST VISION & merchandise FLYIN' COLORS SINGAPORE for really holding me down with the organization and promotion of this party - and as friends that believed in my music and stuck it out with me.  LUH YOU GUYSSS!
