Happy Chinese New Year

Happy Chinese New Year to all my fans, friends and family out there! Wishing you good luck, good fortune, good times, good people and good music for the year of the snake.

I've touched down in Singapore and getting ready for the VIMA Music Awards later this month. For now, I'm going to go visiting with my family and catch up with aunts and uncles I haven't seen in a long while. It's always been an interesting exercise in politics to explain to them what I do for a living and why I enjoy living as an artist. I'm glad to be back in the motherland and remembering my roots - and my roots includes really really delicious food! LOL.  

I can't wait to begin the proccess of releasing Bootleg Culture here in SE Asia and reconnecting to place of my birth.  The music, whether Hiphop, reggae or punk here in South East Asia has grown to be so unique & inspiring, drawing from local influences, then mixing it with world wide sound.  This essentially IS Bootleg Culture.

Here's my sound track going into the Chinese New Year featuring Digital Sham (Jamaica).  This song was basically inspired from a nickname I was given in Jamaica and so what can I do but live up to the namesake and bring it back to Asia.  Bump the song loud and go git that Chiney Money in 2013!

Masia One performing at 2013 VIMA Music Awards

Very excited to announce that Masia One will be performing live at this year's VIMA Music Awards Feb 24. 2013 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.  Masia will be joined by her New York based DJ, DJ AUTOGRAPH and dancer & choreographer HANNA HERBERTSON.

Masia One has been nominated in 8 categories for this South East Asia Music Award including best Hiphop Artist, best Pop single, best dance single, best Music Video and best collaboration. Wishing Masia all the best with awards and if you got yourself an exclusive ticket to the event, you're in a for a great performance!

Today I found an old journal entry that serves as an inspiring reminder at the top of this 2013 year.  I hope everyone is feeling inspired, strong and brave - if not you have until Chinese New Year Feb 10 to get your act together and celebrate the New Year again - this time started on the right foot!  (Like Me!)
