I spoke to my friend Jaba a few days ago that I needed to painted. Together with his wife Sophia, we spent the evening painting at Singapore's Youth Skate Park. I sketched a piece that I wanted to dedicated to my brother Ming. The Lion for me represents where we were born, in the Lion City Singapore. As well, the pride of a Lion symbolises triumph over death. The song Soul Rebel by Bob Marley has been stuck in my head for the past few days. It's amazing how such a simple song has lyrics that can describe so much about life.
I have to admit, I'm rusty with the spray can (no pun intended) as it has been over 10 years since I've really pieced...practice makes perfect and I'm looking forward to hitting up a piece of bridge at House of Paint in Ottawa Canada September 16. Til then, I want to sincerely thank Jaba & Sophia for this evenings painting activity. Thanks for helping with the fills (Lisa too!), giving me advice and being such a great vibe of good creative friends here in S'pore. It's been amazing therapy to express through art the sadness I feel in loosing my big bro.
Tomorrow...rap therapy as I grab the mic at Beats in the Backyard. If you're in and about Singapore City, I hope to see you there.
ps. Jaba's "Mellow Madness" piece below is sick.
